If you are enthusiastic about volleyball, have a spirit of service, and want to share and improve your volleyball skills and knowledge, then you may have what it takes to be an Olympia Volleyball Assistant or Head Coach.
If you are looking for a volleyball coaching opportunity with OVC, please know that your first step should be to review our Parent Handbook to ensure you have an understanding of our program. Specifically, our Mission, Goals and Responsibilities (which is the standard in which we hold our players, parents and coaches accountable to). We conduct all affairs above reproach, keeping our mission and goals in mind. We will not tolerate violation (or even the bending) of USAV or WIAA rules, regardless of their enforceability.
A youth sports coach is a very influential position of trust, and Olympia Volleyball will ensure the USAV background investigation is accomplished on any coach, assistant or helper associated with a team. There is nothing more important than the safety of our players and their families.
Coaches interested in becoming part of the OVC team need to send a resume to our business address:
Olympia Volleyball Club
Attn: Joe Cruz
855 Trosper Rd. SW #108-104
Tumwater, WA 98512
If you have a great attitude, are patient, and know you can add value to a team, please submit your resume, even if you are considering opportunities as an assistant. We have a history of placing assistant coaches with more experienced coaches, mentoring them for future opportunities. Just like we tell our player who may or may not be able to make a team, you definitely want to attend tryouts because you never know, and you'll always miss 100% of the shots you never take.
Finally, flexibility is key, as we will not know the specific coaching requirements until we see how many players will be at tryouts. However, we're hearing a lot of positive feedback from the community, and as our local economy starts to pick up, we are planning for an increase in participation, and expect to be able to offer new coaching opportunities.
