14-1 RoShamBo takes 11th overall at USAV Nationals, American Division!

The Olympia Volleyball Club's 14s RSB Shock Team captured 3rd place in Silver and 11th (out of 48 teams) in the American Division during the 2010 Girls Junior Nationals Championship (JNC)held in Reno, Nevada.  JNC for the 14s Division took place from Thursday, June 24th to
Sunday, June 27th.

Team Shock entered the tournament ranked 16th overall in the American Division, and played a total of 10 matches.  After having played through the first 7 matches, which included the #1 & #4 Seeds (and early tournament Jitters), Team Shock found itself still on course in its humble quest to earn a spot in Gold.

Most notably, Team Shock found itself in a 3-way tie (for 3rd placed) after 2-days of competition (Thur/Fri).  Admirably, the team won the tie-breaker because it attained a 50% set percentage score (highest amongst the other 2 teams) and that put Team Shock over the top for the tie-breaker win.  "4 of the first 5 matches our team played went to 3-sets", and it became the determining factor and it kept our team's quest for a coveted spot in Gold or Silver alive, said the team's Coaches.

Remarkably, out of the 10 matches that Team Shock had played during JNC, 7 (of the 10) went to 3-sets.

"Early on, our players had to fight for every point despite all the built-in and enormous pressures that they (or any team) would stand to inherit as a participant at JNC", said the team Coaches.  In response, our team played intense and with strong conviction.  They remained a solid, cohesive group and mostly 'kept in check' any enormous pressure.

This level of achievement by all our players at a Juniors Nationals Championship is just amazing.  "This season ended the same way it started - Creating the best possible team dynamics for success..through team cohesiveness, team bonding, conviction, and never quitting, despite all the odds and adversity", said the team's Coaches.

To all team parents, thank you very much for the outstanding support (all of the above), steadfast encouragement, belief, commitment, confidence, & dedication.

Special thanks to all monetary donors who graciously supported our team in its fund-raising efforts.  Also, special thanks to all team players and parents for their selfless commitment and untiring efforts in fund-raising during the final push.

Lastly, special thanks to all OVC Executive Committee Members, and Brian McClaflin for their steadfast support all season long.  You are most appreciated.

Again, congratulations!

Coaches Joe Cruz and Julie Ash

 Regional Championships a Huge Success

Great job everybody!    Olympia Volleyball Club is so very proud of all our teams.   We fought so hard, and came so far, it was great to see the success'.

Coach Krista and the OVC 12 RoShamBo team took 5th in Gold at the Regional Championships.  They played so amazingly over the final 3 tournaments, working their way from Bronze to Silver, then finishing in Gold.  We are so very proud of this new group of girls to Club Volleyball, they can be proud.

Similarly, Coach Heidi lead the OVC 13 RSB to 5th, their best finish of the year.  This group of girls made wonderfull progress.

Coach Matt's OVC 14 Black team also finished strong, having a ton of fun at Willamette Valley Classic, and finishing 14th overall at the Regional Championships.  These girls made huge strides, and this season was a fun experience for all.   We wish Coach Matt Godspeed as he deploys in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Captain in the United States Air Force.

Coach Joe's team broke through the glass ceiling this year, qualifying to attend the USAV Junior National Championships.   At Regionals they fought hard, finish 3rd overall fighting through a myriad of injuries.  Keep up the good work OVC 14 RoShamBo, we're all routing for you.  If anybody would like to bless the OVC 14 RSB with a contribution to help them on their quest to Reno, please feel free to contact us at info@olympiavolleyball.com, or jacruzers@olympiavolleyball.com.

Coach Ron & the OVC 15 RoShamBo finished 5th at Regionals.  They got beat by a quality Puget Sound Volleyball Club 15 National team.   They were a scrappy team capable of beating any team in the region.

Coach Amber's OVC 17 Black team did an amazing job.   Unfortunately they where matched up against 2 amazing teams at regionals (Lyndon and ITVBC).  However, they hung with both teams, and looked amazing!  It was so very impressive how they came together at the end to fight their hearts out.   Great job ladies!!

Our Flagship team OVC 17 RoShamBo led by Coach Brian also played amazing Volleyball.  Finishing 3rd may have felt like a letdown to those girls; but they lost to a really good team that went on to take 1st place.   Each and every one of those girls can look in the mirror and be proud to be part of that TEAM.   Watch for this group to do some amazing things at ECC, and come back next year as one of the Top 18u teams in the entire PSR.

Great job everybody, please be proud of your efforts, and look for our end of season banquet information on the website and in your email.   Thank you for being part of the Olympia Volleyball Club.
