Dear Olympia Volleyball Club Family,
As the new club season approaches, we believe that it was important to notify you as soon as possible about our future plans for the Olympia Volleyball Club.As a Board of Directors, we have decided it is best for the club to take a sabbatical for the 2011-12 club season. Current members who are planning to play club volleyball this year should make alternative plans for the coming season. The Olympia Volleyball Club has a great record of having a quality program designed to provide interested athletes with an opportunity to play competitive volleyball and receive quality training. We have always strived for a very high quality volleyball program experience with strong coaching and dependable practice schedules and facilities. We have had a program that allows volleyball players of varying abilities to continue their development past the fall school season. We believe we have met this goal successfully. All of this has been accomplished on a non-profit, volunteer basis. We have only compensated a small stipend to coaches and other club administrators to cover out-of-pocket expenses. As the club has grown -- developing the travel and playing schedules, acquiring quality coaches and gym space, providing first rate training opportunities and the responsibility of administering the club have grown more complex and fallen on fewer and fewer individuals. Due to professional and personal obligatons, none of your current Directors are able to commit the hundreds of hours it takes to run the club this coming season. Please understand that our club has great coaches, players and parents. We had a great year competitively in 2011 – with all but one of our teams finishing in the Gold Division at the regional level. We are happy to report that the club ended the 2011 season financially in good shape with a small balance of about $1000 on hand after all bills are paid. We have come to the conclusion that giving the club and our coaches the opportunity to take a break over the next year in in everyone’s best interest. We wanted to notify you early so that players and parents can plan accordingly. We are not withdrawing from Volleyball. We will be a part of this great community. Best wishes to you and your family for a successful season in Middle and High School in 2011 and club in 2012!
